Our Objective:

Achieve zero net water usage on our leased tenancies, assets under management and developments by 2016.

Although 70% of the earth's surface is covered by water, less than 2.5% is fresh water with less than 1% accessible for direct human use. In the UK it is hard to believe that water scarcity is an issue with our climate and regular rainfall but with climate change predictions and increasing demand this may change. The buildings Lend Lease occupy and manage are significant consumers of fresh water; currently our retail portfolio uses the same annual amount of water as 2,029 people in the UK based on the UK average of 140 litres/person/day (Water Fund). We are working towards reducing our water footprint with an overall objective of achieving zero net water usage on our leased tenancies, assets under management and developments by 2016.
