Our Objective:

Achieve zero net waste to landfill by 2016 on our leased tenancies, assets under management and developments.

Construction waste accounts for around a third of waste generated in the UK (WRAP, 2008). The recent launch of the Strategy for Sustainable Construction in England and the Strategic Forum's UK wide Construction Commitments provide clear direction for the UK construction industry. From April 2008 construction projects above a certain size must prepare a Site Waste Management Plan.

Waste is a key area of action and the goal to halve construction waste to landfill by 2012 (from a 2008 baseline) is now firmly established as the overarching target for the sector. Furthermore, as landlords of our own office space and retail assets we have a significant role to play in reducing our operational waste. Our role as a property developer and landlord is to ensure best practice in waste minimisation and recycled content and the implementation of site waste management plans.
