Integrate sustainability into the design process and achieve a green rating on all our leased tenancies, assets under management and developments by 2016.
At Lend Lease we understand the importance of integrating sustainability into the design process at the concept stage and support the view that sustainability and design excellence should be mutually reinforcing.By working with our dedicated Design Teams we aim to promote innovative thinking in sustainable design to help us deliver developments that meet the social, economic and environmental needs of the people they serve.
We support the use of green building rating tool assessments, including Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and EcoHomes, now the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH) which highlight how our design approach impacts the environment and considers social outcomes. Through our UK Green Building Council membership, we advocate the development of a Code for Sustainable Buildings to help our sector move forward and deliver zero carboncommercial buildings by 2018-19 and Dan Labbad will be sitting on the Advisory Group of this work.
We also recognise that green building rating tools do not always tackle occupancy behaviour and support the implementation of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive which we believe will help drive a fundamental shift in how buildings are viewed by occupiers and help create the necessary step change in delivering sustainable buildings in both design and operation.
