Lend Lease strives to be a sustainable leader and is strategically and culturally committed to achieving economic development, social enrichment and environmental protection. We are committed to measuring and reporting on our environmental and socio-economic performance to both our internal and external stakeholders. In 2007 we disclosed our sustainability performance for the first time; this signified a ‘transparent mark in the sand’ and was an invaluable learning curve for all those involved.
In May 2008, we interrogated the current and emerging regulatory framework and also the key sustainability risks to our business. To reflect the material issues identified through this work and the release of our 23 Global Sustainability Aspirations we have refocused our Sustainability Commitments published in 2007 and have formulated a sustainability plan, which focuses on ten objective areas. This site is structured according to our ten objective areas and summarises our performance against our 2007 targets as well as sets out annual targets for financial year 2008-09. This Sustainability Update covers performance and progress in the financial year ending 30th June 2008 and compares to our baseline year ending 30th June 2007.
